Late controversy against Juventus can’t hide Aston Villa truth under Unai EmeryZac Alley first official announcement on Rich Rodriguez's staffMUMBAI: Keen to get the status of ‘national party’ back, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP will contest the Delhi assembly elections, scheduled to be held in February. The party is planning to contest 25 seats, of which candidates for 11 have already been declared. Following the split in the party last year, NCP is looking to regain its national party status, for which it has been contesting elections outside Maharashtra, but failing miserably to register any success, except in Arunachal Pradesh. It had contested Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand assembly elections on 35 and 25 seats respectively but could not get even one seat. In Arunachal, however, it won three out of the 14 seats it contested. In Delhi, the party is planning to contest 25 seats, said the party’s national spokesperson, Brijmohan Shrivastava. “We wanted to contest the Delhi polls as a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) front, but BJP thinks otherwise. Hence, the party has started preparation to fight the polls alone,” he said. The party has already declared candidates for Burari, Badli, Mangol Puri, Chandni Chowk, Balli maran, Chhatarpur, Sangam Vihar, Okhla, Laxmi Nagar, Seema Puri and Gokal Puri. In a major setback, the Election Commission (EC) on April 11, 2023, withdrew the national party status of the NCP on the grounds that it no longer fulfilled the eligibility criteria. The EC also revoked its state party status in three states - Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya - which paved the way to remove the national party status. The Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, mandates that for national party status, a political party needs to fulfill any of the following three conditions: First, it should secure at least six percent of the votes polled in four or more states in the Lok Sabha or assembly elections, and should also have at least four members in the Lok Sabha. Secondly, it needs to have at least two percent of the total Lok Sabha seats and candidates from not less than three states. Third, it should be recognised as a state party in at least four states.MADRID (AP) — Kylian Mbappé admitted he is going through a difficult moment as he missed another penalty kick and Real Madrid lost ground to Barcelona in the Spanish league after a 2-1 loss at Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday. Mbappé had his penalty saved by Athletic goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala in the 68th minute, and later Federico Valverde gifted a late goal by losing possession on defense to allow an easy winner by Gorka Guruzeta in the 80th. Ireland players Denise O’Sullivan and Caitlin Hayes have criticised the FAI’s decision to relieve national team assistant Colin Healy of his duties earlier this month. The 44-year-old Corkman departed the set-up over a fortnight ago along with former boss Eileen Gleeson following the side’s Euro 2025 play-off defeat to Wales. Healy, who was capped 13 times during his playing days, served as Gleeson’s assistant during her 15-month reign and was a popular figure amongst the staff and players. Integrity Sport, Healy’s representatives, also issued a statement this month expressing their disappointment at the decision. Ireland players, from right, Kyra Carusa, Caitlin Hayes and Denise O'Sullivan As the search for Gleeson’s replacement continues with Ireland’s next window in February, O’Sullivan and Hayes have both taken to social media this weekend to vent their frustrations at the FAI’s decision to let Healy go and made it clear that they feel he should have been kept on. “When a coach of Colin Healy's calibre wants to stay involved I think it’s common sense to do whatever you can to keep him on,” said O’Sullivan on X, in a reply to an Irish Examiner article on Healy’s departure. “Major loss for the team. I’m disappointed to say the least,” added the Cork native, with her post viewed almost 150 thousand times this weekend. Celtic defender Hayes also expressed her frustrations, adding: “I couldn’t agree more,” in a reply to O’Sullivan’s post. “Colin went above and beyond his role as an assistant coach and for me personally, he couldn’t have done much more to help me settle into a team, that was very daunting at the beginning. I would be doing all that I could for him to stay if it was up to me.” The FAI confirmed on December 11 that Gleeson’s contract would not be renewed, and the following day Healy’s representatives issued a statement sharing their disappointment. “Incredibly disappointing to learn Integrity Sports client Colin Healy has been relieved of his duties along with other staff members,” they said on Instagram, also revealing that the ex-Cork City and Celtic midfielder had turned down two job offers in recent weeks to remain in the national team set-up. “Colin is an exceptional coach and one of the most honourable people I’ve met in the game. After the heartbreaking loss of his beautiful wife Kelly this year, Colin has shown an unbelievable resolve and commitment to continue his work with the Women’s National Team under such difficult family circumstances. “Over the past few weeks he has also displayed a kind of loyalty rarely seen in football, declining to pursue two different management offers due to his complete dedication to his work with the FAI, Eileen, her staff and players. “For all the talk of the need for growth in Irish football, the importance of funding and for training hours for young players to increase, one vividly bright spot within the game here is unquestionable, that we have never been in a better place in relation to the volume of excellent coaches we have available with huge potential. “We are producing plenty of men and women who can absolutely operate at an elite level if given the opportunity and time to prove themselves. “Regardless of money, plan etc, Irish football cannot grow long term, unless a greater faith and belief is shown in Irish coaches to attain and retain opportunities at the top of the coaching pyramid.” Following this month’s heartbreaking Euro 2025 play-off defeat at home to Wales, as Ireland missed out on a historic first qualification, the team are back in action in February when they take on Turkey at home on February 21. The Girls in Green then travel to face Slovenia four days later in the opening window of the campaign before an April double-header against Greece.

Some of LA’s most successful food businesses — including Mini Kabob and the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills — are joining forces in a kind of culinary Avengers with the opening of Neighborly , which looks to reimagine the food hall with multiple menus from different restaurants offered on the same premises. However, unlike a food hall, all of Neighborly’s dishes are prepared within one multi-faceted kitchen and overseen by a single team of chefs. Neighborly promises to offer more consistent preparations that reflect the original restaurants instead of the often diminished quality that appears when beloved concepts venture far from their homes. While this resembles the fast-growing Wonder in New York , which employs celebrity chefs and restaurants to serve reheated meals , Neighborly will prepare food on site from scratch like a more traditional restaurant. Neighborly will open on December 19 at Rick Caruso’s the Promenade at Westlake Village development inside the former Social Monk space, bringing Mini Kabob , Gaby’s by prominent cookbook author and food recipe blogger Gaby Dalkin , the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills , Joan’s on Third marketplace, and Flour Shop by Amirah Kassem . In addition, Social Monk will retain a menu here with a refined menu that should appeal to its longtime regulars. Recall that Social Monk was the casual Panda Express-type pan-Asian restaurant by the Cheesecake Factory that never bloomed as prominently as the big Chinese food chain. The food hall is backed by DFG Ventures , also known as Dom Food Group, which partnered with Gwyneth Paltrow to expand a successful string of Goop Kitchen restaurants serving gluten-free pizzas, salads, and sandwiches via delivery and takeout spaces. DFG Ventures is part of Dom Capital Group , a large investment firm based out of Chicago founded in the early 1900s as an Italian deli and food store, expanding to Dominick’s Finer Foods in the 20th century before selling the business in the late 1980s. Beginning in 2007, the company relaunched with investments in food technology, services, and branded goods, and their concepts include Suckerpunch pickles, Rick Bayless’s Tortazo restaurant, and The Kitchen . Mendocino Farms co-founder Mario Del Pero, also a partner at DFG Ventures, is leading the charge at Neighborly to bring acclaimed places like the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills and Mini Kabob to well-heeled suburbs like Westlake Village. Neighborly’s innovation isn’t as much about creating something new but refining what diners are already familiar with. “It’s not that new of an idea, but the amount of technology and branding we’re putting around everything is pretty modern,” Del Pero told Eater over the phone. What that means exactly isn’t clear, but expect a user-friendly takeaway, dine-in, and delivery system that brings well-regarded restaurants to more LA neighborhoods. “We got a lot of inspiration in this kind of category from everything that Eataly has done on a super grand scale,” he continued. Neighborly chose brands that Del Pero says offers an “authentic point of view that we knew delivered the best and are the most demanded.” Partners offer recipes, support, and branding while receiving licensing fees and potentially a share of the revenues in return. Mini Kabob, which still operates a tiny take-out Armenian kebab shop in Glendale, expanded to a stall at Westfield Topanga’s Topanga Social food hall in 2023 . A partnership with Neighborly promises to help the celebrated kebab restaurant reach even more Southern California locations. The same goes for the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, which was acquired by Dominick DiBartolomeo of Dominico’s Fine Foods (no relation to Dominick’s Finer Foods) in 2022. Here at Neighborly, DiBartolomeo serves artisan pizza and pastas that one would find at a place like Eataly. Joan’s On Third, a longtime favorite of Del Pero, will sell premade foods as one would find at its Studio City or West Third marketplaces. The Explosion Cake baker Amirah Kassem will sell cookies at Flour Shop. Author Gaby Dalkin will unleash a line of salads, bowls, and sandwiches that will likely model the fresh, California-inflected fare at Paltrow’s Goop Kitchen. It’s the kind of healthy-ish everyday fare that suburbanites adore. As for future partners, Del Pero hinted that some big names could be on the horizon to sell popular American food items like burgers. Del Pero says the Westlake Village space can accommodate one or two more partners. Asked why certain partners and brands were chosen over others, Del Pero responded: “I think we’re very conscientious of it, and it sits pretty forward in how we address things,” as he mentioned the three female partners in Gaby Dalkin, Joan McNamara, and Amirah Kassem. At the moment, DFG Ventures is looking at Manhattan Beach and Pacific Palisades for the next expansion, essentially affluent suburban or urban areas where diners don’t get to see as many “bespoke concepts” as the ones at Neighborly. Neighborly will open on December 19 at 4000 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Space C1, Westlake Village, CA, 91362 and will operate daily. Sign up for our newsletter. Check your inbox for a welcome email. Indian foreign secy’s visit: 2 countries to try to mend relations

I have the same thought a lot of mornings when I look in the mirror. The bank insisted I confirm my identity before I could access our account — all because I made one teeny tiny typo entering the passcode. Flustered and in a hurry, but not one to ever make the same mistake twice, I made a different typo on my next try. I was automatically routed to the three-question “How Good Is Your Memory?” game. Where did you and your spouse first meet? What was your favorite pureed vegetable as an infant? What was your great, great, great maternal grandfather’s blood type? I failed that, too. I guess carrots was the wrong answer. I had to go to the bank in person to unfreeze the account. The teller asked if I had any additional identification. Just so you know, the bank will not accept an appendectomy scar from when you were a child as additional identification. The verification requests that I don’t mind are the ones that ask me to enter a code sent by text or email. I like these. They are good memory tests to see if I can flip between screens and still remember a six-digit number. So far, so good. The Walmart app recently asked me to verify my identity when I arrived for a grocery pickup order. Seriously? There are 32 pickup spots in the parking lot, and I was the only single solitary car out there. It was 7 a.m. and still dark. Yes, it’s me. Now please bring out the milk and laundry detergent. Of course, there’s always facial-recognition identification that simplifies logging in, but do I want to go down that road? What if I have a good night’s sleep (unlikely), the bags under my eyes disappear (virtually impossible) and the app can’t recognize me? What if I decide to have plastic surgery, have everything on my face pulled, tightened, puffed and fluffed, and wind up looking so young that the app doesn’t recognize me? That is also highly unlikely, but a woman of a certain age likes to keep her options open. The only thing I know for sure is that I always experience a wave of panic whenever I see the message: “Failed to verify your identity.” The upside of all this identity-verification business is that the CAPTCHA security checks that once required you to click on the all the boxes with power lines, bicycles or traffic lights now simply ask you to check the “I am not a robot” box. As improved as that is, I still believe that CAPTCHA should be renamed GOTCHA.
